Deep Impact

NASA plans to hit the comet Tempel 1 with a rocket called Deep Impact on the 4th July this year.

Deep Impact's 820-pound copper-tipped projectile should hit Tempel 1 at about 23,000 mph. This should leave a 14-storey deep cavity on the comet; allowing NASA to look at its core, and learn about the conditions that existed more than 4 billion year ago when the solar system was formed.

All very exciting stuff! I got all worked up and was inspired to take a dramatic photo to symbolise the impact. This is what I came up with.
